When you’re visiting Orlando for your vacation, it’s easy to get caught up in the buzz of the theme parks and the surrounding area. However, you’ll be missing out on some truly spectacular experiences just around the bend if you don’t know where to look for them.
About 23 miles along East I-4 toward Daytona from the theme park region, you’ll find the charming town of Sanford. Simply follow the exit and signs will lead you right to its brick-paved downtown, established in 1877. It’s here you’ll find an array of delightful restaurants, bars, and boutiques that aren’t glossed over with mouse ears or other notable characters.
A more recent addition to the Downtown Sanford landscape since 2017 is Luisa’s Cellar, a quaint and comfortable wine bar that has joined forces with pop-up kitchen, The Empress Table, for perfect food pairings like tasty charcuterie boards and phenomenal flatbreads.
Owners Sascha and Mary have quite the collection of wines and a rotating menu to sample from every month. By the glass or bottle, you can make your selections or let Mary, a Court of Masters Sommelier, make them for you. Wine flights also change monthly and are an ideal way to discover a new favorite.
Named as a tribute to Mary’s grandmother, Luisa’s Cellar also has plenty of beer options, specialty coffees, and heavenly desserts. There’s something that will delight your every mood here.
And speaking of mood, Luisa’s Cellar is a wonderfully unique place to cap off your busy day of sightseeing whether you’re having a romantic getaway or you’re out with a group of friends. The seating inside is cozy though the outdoor patio allows you to enjoy the warm Florida weather.
If you have a large group, consider reserving the event space to entertain yourselves. The stunning event room upstairs is private and perfect for parties celebrating any occasion. While downstairs at the bar, you can also ask for the secret password to gain entry into the speakeasy on Friday and Saturday nights, also located upstairs, where you’ll enter a whole new world and vibe.
While Luisa’s Cellar is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, the other evenings of the week are a superb time to come and taste wines handpicked for you by Mary and Sascha. Come for live music on Friday and Saturday nights, or if you’re planning on making a day of Sanford, stop in for brunch and bottomless mimosas and sangria between 11 am and 3 pm on Sundays.
Whenever you come, the lovely vibe here will make you want to linger all evening while sipping wine, having nibbles of gourmet bites, and making memories together that go beyond the walls of the theme park. Check out their website for more information
